Was 1965 too early to write about the now of the threat of AI? Not for speculative fiction, I guess. Frank was a genius. 

2025 is the now of emerging AI. Dune Pt. 3 needs to capture this aspect of Frank’s predictions.

I use Siri to create this AI emerging graphic. Siri thinks AI emerges from a microprocessor. She must live there in my phone’s processor.

By the way, Notes has an image generator.

Did you know, when in Notes, if you take a photo as an insert, it goes somewhere.

But when I try to find the original to edit…

 Choose photo or video. It’s not any of these photos. And Notes loads ALL the photos.

I search in vain.

Albums are in Collections, I guess.

Notes doesn’t have an album. Why do all these other apps?

Story is not even in my Photo app’s “Saved Today” folder!

I wish I’d been fast enough to screenshot it.  Or thought to screenshot it at all. I just swiped it away like an annoying insect. A programmed response.

I need to look into this focus mode I’ve seen this week.

I remember when a Mac was built for artists.  But this is iOS. It has a different focus.

To actually query this, I copied the text directly from this screen cap. This makes me hopeful Siri can read all the text from the photos in my note and finish this!?

Too bad. She must not be connected to a good enough ChatGPT model. The one at my office would take a swing. Ask Sage.

What’s with my phone? I cannot copy screenshots onto this note. I’m sure all these screen caps have clogged memory. Does this phone have memory? I don’t even know the phone architecture anymore.

I wonder if Siri is clogging my processor? I remember reading concerns along those lines.

Story is only in the app.

I have to adjust the Note app settings to save to photos. I don’t.  It makes me nervous but also feels liberating to take screen shoots directly to the note. I vastly simplifies production work flow. The notes are really in-the-now now.

Focus again. Outside the phone looking in.  I’ve found Story but I have also found a story. The AI in the Apps. The intelligence in my phone.

I am finding them to be helpful. Apps like Notes and Photos help you tell your story. But I am also beginning to feel like Apps are focused on me, who I am and what I’m doing. Is that why Verizon gives me a free phone? Am I the focus of my phone’s existence? 

I’m adding focus to my concept. 

What is the center of interest?

My story is the center of interest. For me and apparently for the apps.

I can’t just stare at my phone the whole furlough . I’m focusing on cleaning my basement as part of capturing my story. Sorting through all my stuff and purging what I don’t need for the future. Taking this photo I captured a ghost in the mirror. Zoom in.

We’re recovering from water damage and remediation. I have a-lot of stuff. Did you see the old rusty  trombone in the last photo? I recover it and other old items from my story to bring them into my now.

Not sure what’s on that mirror but it made for a fun cleaning sequence!

12 years in the 122n Army Band and all I got was this rusty trombone. Thanks to Chuck Lesogonich. I love it. I blew dome tiffs on it and it actually sounds great! I’ve made a place of honor for it on my military shelf. It fills a gap in my service record between the Marine Corps and the Public Affairs Office.

Much evidence of my story is on old HDDs. I’m working on my MacBook Pro organizing my media archive. I set up an archiving station with my old edit PC.

As media copies onto SSDs in preparation for organization and a move to the cloud,I open my notes on the Macbook desktop. I am nearing the end of my brainstorming and need to organize. I think about editing text in Word. But stop to think through my process. 

I’ve noticed that one of the places you can send a note is WordPress. I have my old freelance site DavisMediaDesign.com sitting out there with a template holding it down. I decide I will publish a feature blog to it. It will be comprised of these notes I’ve been keeping.

I also decide I will commit to the apple ecosystem. I reinstall Pages. I’m moving from notes to Pages for organization and editing. Do  I need to strip out the note aspect of story?

My production blog has seen more development than the story during these days of the furlough. 

I’ve done enough project management that I understand you have to develop and refine processes in order to maximize efficiency. 

So a process I’ve adapted is to narrate these notes and to use the proofread functionality of Siri. Has worked out well so far.

I have not yet use Siri to rewrite. I will have to look at what she can do going forward. I’m at the end of my furlough, but I do appreciate discovering this process I cannot type on the phone for shit.
